Lightbulb RAIL Removal info required (pics would be usefull too)

i havent received my SP1 yet but i am planning to remove a couple of the rails, i was just wondering if the threaded brass inserts sit flush with the body or are they raised into a recess in the bottom of the rail (to aid positioning)

also whats the recommended stuff to remove the adhesive used to fix them on in the factory ?

thanks

ive seen that a guy on here, i think it was robert redford? did that, he just hacked them off. but since this is balistics plastic, you should use a knife to cut it off. i used a dremili on my old one and it was a melted mess.

I just did this to a pre-slectfire board version. The glue on newer SP-1 is supposed to be different so YMMV. The one I did was only glued around the screws. I sand-paper on the spots for the first 2 rails. I used a dremmell on the 2nd 2 rails, then sand paper to finish. Both methods worked well. Key to using the dremell is to use a low speed setting. High speed will melt it down. Krylon camoflauge with fusion ultra flat black matches the original color almost perfectly. Also you will need some kind of filler for the holes that are left. Feel free to PM me for further details if you would like.

Default Rail removal

I removed my rails, and used a knife on the glued sections. I left the raised posts (there are no threaded brass inserts) and used black button head bolts to plug the screw holes. I think it looks good.

There wasn't any glue left on mine, when I modded mine with an Ion trigger frame. It's more like rubber cement then an actual glue. It peels right off.
