Saftey Notice! Ninja Air Tanks

hey, just got this from my buddy.

I got back from Castle Conquest around 9pm, took a shower, and went to sleep. Didn't get up as early as I would have liked to, so my gear sat in my car for most of the day, which was in the sun in over 100 degree weather.
When I got up I went out and grabbed my tanks out of my car and brought them in to make sure they were ok. Checked them over, and I just noticed my 90/45 Ninja has a 1 1/2 inch long crack on the body. It's about a centimeter wide, and maybe 1/2 a centimeter deep. The tank still has about 1,000psi in it. I'm going to call Ninja tomorrow about it, but I can't get it out of my head. Should I be worried? Bleed out the tank? Am I lucky this thing hasn't blown up on me? What should I do?

it looks from the pic like its just the top lacquer seal -as long as the fibrewrap is undamaged it should be fine.

take no chance tho - get it checked.

no its not, the ninja tanks flex too much which is cracking the gel coat.
as for now, these are not safe and ninja is supposed to be looking into the probleem

Glad your friend is ok. Keep us informed as to what the manufacture says, and does.
He will have to depressurize to ship it.

if there is a definite safety issue then surely they would need to withdraw the tanks from the market?

if that tank is dangerously defective, get it sent back and money refunded as it is not fit for purpose.

Everything I have heard and read about this has been a problem for a while. Most are unconcerned, I don't get that. "Its old news".
Complacency is a danger all by its self.
Anyway the polymer on the outside of the tank cracks from dropping and or flexing.
I don't think there is any real danger but its always better to be safe.
Ninja will replace the tank so I'v read.

this wasnt me, it was a friends friend, he uses a vest and remote, so no.
this was from heat and some psi being left in the tank.

just talk to ray, i had a crack in my ninja tank and they shipped me a new one right away, great customer service at ninja paintball

This may be reviving an old thread but hey.....

From my talks with the Ninja rep at TWC last year the polymer coating acts like a tank cover. A crack in the coating won't effect the tank at all. On that note however I would still get it replaced as that crack now will house all kinds of baddies like dirt and moisture creating a potential issue with the tank later on.

As for Tank covers... none of the standard covers fit Ninja tanks as they are a non-standard size
